Referee from Uzbekistan Yulia Ignatenko joined the group of young talents of the refereeing panels of the Asia Rugby
This is the first time in the history of rugby in Uzbekistan, when a female referee became a member of the referee panel of the Asian Rugby Union.
This event is the result of the systematic work of the Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan in the training of rugby personnel, the results of which are recognized at the international level.
Since 2015, the Uzbekistan Rugby Federation has been regularly conducting training courses for the training and development of coaches and referees in rugby, with the involvement of international experts.
An additional impetus in the development of rugby in Uzbekistan was the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dated 29.10.2019. Presidential Decree No. -4500 “On measures for the development of rugby in the Republic of Uzbekistan”, one of the points of which provides for the improvement of the training system for coaches, referees and other rugby specialists.
Yulia Ignatenko started her career in rugby in 2004.
In 2006, she joined the national women’s rugby team of Uzbekistan.
In 2008, she received the title of Master of Sports of International class.
In 2014-2015, she was the leader of the national team of Uzbekistan.
In 2016-2021, she was the captain of the national women’s rugby team of Uzbekistan.
In 2016, she began refereeing practice at the Uzbek Rugby Championships, simultaneously took online and offline training at refereeing courses organized by the Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan jointly with Asia Rugby and World Rugby.
In 2021, Yulia Ignatenko took part in the Asian U18 Rugby-7 Championship among women’s teams as an assistant referee and a referee in the field.
In June 2022, she joined the refereeing team that officiated the matches of the third division of the Asian Rugby-15 Championship among men’s teams.
In September of this year, Yulia Ignatenko was included in the group of young talents of the refereeing board of the Asian Rugby Union.
