OTABEK UMAROV IS NOMINATED FOR THE POSITION OF VICE PRESIDENT OF THE OLYMPIC COUNCIL OF ASIA.
On Wednesday, an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan was held, during this meeting the preparations for the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) were discussed. This was reported by the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
“Due to the fact that the IV Asian Youth Games will be held in Tashkent in 2025, the establishment of relations with the Olympic Council of Asia is of paramount importance for Uzbekistan,” the statement said.
Considering this fact, at the meeting of the Executive Committee, Otabek Umarov was nominated as Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia. He is currently the head of the Central Asian MMA Conference.
It is noted, that this is the first time when Uzbekistan is nominating its candidate for the post of Vice President of the OCA.
During the event, the director of the Tashkent-2025 Asian Youth Games was also elected. This position was taken by the General Secretary of the NOC Oybek Kasymov.
At the OCA General Assembly, which will be held on December 16 in Muscat, Oman, the appointment of the host country for the 2030 Summer Asian Games, the election of the organization’s vice-presidents and the signing of an agreement with the host country for the 4th Asian Youth Games in 2025 will be discussed.
