Results of the Allied States Cup in Rugby-7
The Cup of the Union States in rugby-7 has ended in Ufa, timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, in which participated 12 teams from Kazakhstan, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Russia and Belarus.
Group “A”
“Ufa”, “University” (Uzbekistan), “Kharugva” (Belarus), “Rat” (Yekaterinburg).
Group “B”
“Kuban” (Krasnodar), “AsiaSport” (Kazakhstan), “Strela” (Kazan), “Crimea”.
Group “C”
Narvskaya Zastava (St. Petersburg), the national team of Moldova, Slava (Moscow), Samara.
On the first day, the team of Uzbek rugby players “University” took second place in group “A”. Our athletes played a series of exciting games with experienced opponents and were able to show a high level of training, as well as a close-knit team spirit. In addition, I remember the match “University” (Uzbekistan) – “Rat” (Yekaterinburg), though not thanks to the events on the field: the teams came out in very similar rugby (sport uniform of rugby players), and the Urals had to turn their uniforms inside out. Results of this day: University 29 – 7 Khuragva (Belarus), University 19 – 12 Rat (Yekaterinburg), University 5 – 31 Ufa.
The second day of the tournament turned out to be difficult for our team. “University” met on the field with the clear favorite of the tournament – the team “Narvskaya Zastava” (St. Petersburg), which is one of the three leaders in Russia and left no chance for our team, finishing the matches with a winning score. Further, our rugby players lost to the team “AsiaSport” (Kazakhstan). As the result of the accumulated fatigue, as well as the injury received by the team captain A. Karimov, our rugby players failed to win the match against the Moldavian national team. The result of the match is 19 – 7 in favor of Moldova.
At the end of the tournament, our team “University” was awarded with a diploma for “the best team spirit” and took 8th place.
The Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan, as well as our athletes, are grateful to the government of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Rugby Federation of Russia for the warm welcome and the opportunity to participate in the tournament.
Our athletes have already arrived home and after a short rest, they will begin further preparations for the upcoming republican competitions of the “Student League” and the Championship of Uzbekistan 2020.
