The Japanese authorities intend to attract about 10 thousand medical workers to the Tokyo Games.

The Japanese Government is planning to recruit about 10 thousand medical workers for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. This was stated by the former athlete Seiko Hashimoto, during the parliamentary debate.

“We plan to train a staff of medical workers by sending a corresponding proposal to about 10 thousand people,” she said. Hashimoto also stressed that bringing such professionals to the Olympics will not harm the work of local medical institutions.

It was previously reported that the Organizing Committee «Tokyo-2020» is considering the possibility of creating a collegial body under the working name «Center for Infectious Disease Control» to coordinate actions, related to the control of coronavirus infection during the competition.

However, the International Olympic Committee reported that the vaccination of athletes participating in the Tokyo Olympic Games was still under consideration.
