President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met August 13 with athletes who returned from Tokyo after participating in Summer Olympic Games.
Along with athletes, the meeting was attended by their coaches and parents. The President congratulated all the participants on their excellent performance. The Uzbek team has three gold and two bronze medals, as well as three Olympic records. Shavkat Mirziyoyev praised achievements of the team’s athletes and coaches, and addressed to parents of Olympic medalists with words of gratitude for upbringing of outstanding athletes. The President awarded the winners and participants of the Olympics and their coaches with monetary prizes.
Among the tasks for the next Olympic Games the head of the state mentioned the need to pay particular attention to the development of Paralympic sport and team sports. The federations have a goal: to win the Olympic tickets for soccer, basketball, rugby, handball, field hockey and volleyball. “We have every opportunity to win more than 100 licenses for the next Summer Olympics,” says the president.
