President of the Asian Rugby federation Qais Al-Dhalai, as well as representatives of the rugby federation of Russia and the secretary general of the rugby federation of Uzbekistan, Jalilov Kahramon Khakimovich, arrived in Krasnoyarsk in order to assess the preparation for the first ever Asian Rugby-7 Champions Cup.
Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss met with the delegation. He stressed that the Krasnoyarsk Territory is ready to organize and hold the event at the highest level.
The city has all the necessary infrastructure, experience in hosting the world’s largest sports events, a powerful team of fans and connoisseurs of this sport.
The head of the region expressed confidence that the tournament will become a big step in the development of rugby and a permanent platform for its holding with the participation of the strongest teams of the Asian continent.
During the visit to Krasnoyarsk, the delegation will visit key sites for the tournament and assess the infrastructure.
The Asian Rugby 7 Champions Cup will be held in Krasnoyarsk in the first half of August 2022.
It will be attended by 12 club teams – two Russian and 10 foreign, including from Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Kazakhstan, China.
As part of the tournament, a large street festival is planned for spectators and fans with many interactive venues.
