OTABEK UMAROV ELECTED FOR THE POSITION OF VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE OLYMPIC COUNCIL OF ASIA.
On Tuesday, on the eve of the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), a meeting of the Executive Committee was held, during which a new leadership and members of the Executive Committee of the organization were elected. This was reported by the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.
In accordance with articles 71 and 76 of the Constitution of the Olympic Council, the country in which one of the 5 major complex competitions takes place has the right to nominate a candidate for the post of vice-president of the OCA. Due to the fact, that the IV Asian Youth Games will be held in 2025 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan got the right to offer its candidate for this post.
At yesterday’s meeting of the executive committee of the Olympic Council of Asia, the candidacy of Otabek Umarov was unanimously approved for the post of Vice President of the OCA.
“To begin with, I want to express my sincere gratitude to everone for the given credence to me. I am very proud to defend the rights and interests of our country in such a prestigious organization and to contribute to the development of the Olympic movement on the continent. Holding the Asian Youth Games in Tashkent in 2025 is a kind of test for the new Uzbekistan in front of the whole world. With the support of our dear president and government, we will try our best to hold this sports event at a high level”, said Otabek Umarov.
We remind, that on December 16, the General Assembly of the Asian Olympic Council will be held in Muscat. The event will also host the signing ceremony of an agreement with Uzbekistan hosting the IV Asian Youth Games in 2025.
Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov, First Deputy Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Ravshan Irmatov, General Secretary of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, Director of the Tashkent-2025 Youth Asian Games, Oybek Kasymov, Deputy Chairmen of the National Olympic Committee Saken Polatov and Azizdjon Kamilov, advisers to the Chairman of the NOC Iskander Shadiev and Sherzod Asatullaev will also take part in the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
