The general director of the United Rugby Championship, Martin Anayi, denied the information about the creation of the second division of the tournament – the United Rugby Shield: “Nothing like this is expected. We are now focused only on the United Rugby Championship and we are not thinking about any second divisions of the tournament. As a matter of fact, there are no plans to reform or expand the United Rugby Championship either. We have 16 franchises, it’s kind of a closed league and it’s important for us to invest in it. So there is no talk of creating a new competition.”
