Universiade in rugby-7 among women’s teams was held in Chirchik
On May 28-31, 2023, the Universiade rugby-7 competitions among women’s teams were held for the first time in the city of Chirchik, Tashkent region.
The following teams took part in these competitions: the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Tashkent city, Fergana, Navoi, Tashkent, Namangan, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Andijan, Khorezm and Bukhara regions.
The teams of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Tashkent, Khorezm and Namangan regions were previously divided into four groups (“A”, “B”, “C” and “D”). The rest of the teams were divided into groups by lot.
The Universiade rugby-7 competitions were held according to the rules of World Rugby. During two game days, the teams played in a round-robin and mixed system, which made it possible to determine the winner of the tournament. The winner was the women’s team of the Tashkent region, which in the final beat the team of Namangan with a score of 38-0. In the match for 3rd place, the winner was the team of Khorezm, which won the team of Karakalpakstan with a score of 22-0.
