Rugby-7s Uzbekistan Championship. I tour
On October 31, 2020, the opening of the first tour of the Rugby-7s Uzbekistan Championship was held at the sports stadium of the National University of Uzbekistan. The event was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Physical Culture and Sports R. Irmatov, President of the National Olympic Committee R. Shaabdurakhmanov, General Secretary of the National Olympic Committee O. Kasimov, Vice-Rector of the National University of Uzbekistan K. Mirzakhmedov, Chairman of the Board of the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange Z. Badriddinov, General Secretary of the Uzbekistan Rugby Federation K. Jalilov, as well as other representatives of relevant organizations.
Employees of the Uzbekistan Rugby Federation and the main sponsor of the URF, the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange, held a joint flash mob on playing rugby. This event was held in honor of the President’s Decree on “Healthy lifestyle”, in order to promote a healthy lifestyle and the development of mass sports.

The aforementioned participants of this event also gave interviews regarding the development of rugby in the Republic of Uzbekistan to such news agencies as UzReport TV, Sport TV, Uzbekistan 24, Zamon and others. All participants became spectators of exciting matches among men’s and women’s rugby teams from all regions of the Republic.
“Our President, Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, by his Decree (PD-4500 of October 29, 2019) provided comprehensive support for the development of rugby in the Republic of Uzbekistan. And our task is to do everything necessary for this!” – R. Shaabdurakhmanov, President of the National Olympic Committee.
The Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan expresses its gratitude to all participants and guests who shared this solemn moment with us. And also, based on the results of the finals, held on November 1, 2020, we would like to congratulate the winner of the first tour of the Rugby-7s Uzbekistan Championship – the “University” team.
Thanks to such vigorous activity on the part of the Rugby Federation of Uzbekistan, as well as with the comprehensive support from the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, the National Olympic Committee and sponsors, we will be able to achieve all our goals and together bring Uzbek rugby to a new level!
