French Rugby Player Gives Rugby Master Class

On March 26, in Kuyichirchik district of Tashkent region, at the stadium of sports school No. 2, a rugby-7 master class was held with the participation of Claire Matillon, a representative of the French club La Rochelle Sun Lions.
Girls in the age categories of up to 15 and up to 17 years old took part in the event. Claire shared her game experience, demonstrated techniques, explained tactical aspects and actively interacted with the training participants.
After the lesson, Claire Matillon highly appreciated the level of training of the athletes: “I was happy to have the opportunity to discover rugby in Uzbekistan. The training with the girls from Tashkent region was a very good moment. They really have a good level, and are very involved and attentive. It was a real pleasure to meet them and share the passion of rugby!”




After the master class, a seminar was held with the participation of the coaching staff and representatives of the rugby community of Uzbekistan.
Artem Izmailov, senior rugby coach of the Tashkent region, and Sharif Ismoilov, coach of the youth team of the Tashkent region in rugby-7, made a joint statement:
“Holding such events is very important for the development of rugby among girls. We see great potential in our athletes and are confident that such meetings with international players not only inspire, but also significantly improve their level.
The training camp, which is currently underway, is aimed at selecting and preparing the Tashkent region team for the Uzbekistan Championship among boys and girls under 17. Our priority is teamwork, team discipline and the growth of each player.”
As part of the camp, active work continues to improve the physical and technical performance of the girls, the formation of a team culture and motivation for results. In the near future, it is planned to hold test matches, where the athletes will be able to demonstrate the acquired skills in practice.

“We strive to build a systemic approach to the development of rugby, starting from the youth level. Supporting initiatives such as Claire Matillon’s visit is part of our strategy for the development of women’s rugby. It is important for girls to see examples in front of them, to understand that they have prospects both in Uzbekistan and beyond.”
Such events contribute to the development of rugby in Uzbekistan, strengthen international ties and inspire a new generation of athletes to achieve high results.
